Covenant University is a private Christian university located in Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria. It was established in 2002 by the Living Faith Church Worldwide (also known as Winners' Chapel) and has since grown to become one of the leading universities in Nigeria and Africa.

History

Covenant University was founded in response to a vision given to Bishop David Oyedepo, the presiding bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, in 1981. The university commenced operations in October 2002 after receiving its operating license from the Nigerian government in February of the same year.

The approval process was the fastest among the 16 applications filed for the establishment of private universities at the time, and Covenant University's assessment score was also the highest.
